Please can anyone give me an inconclusive explanation on how to do the AF
fine-adjustment.

If a lens is frontfocussing (so the sharpest point on the picture lies in
front of the point with the AF-center point), I have to move the slider in
te AF fine-adjustment to the right (+)?
Or to the left (-)?

You really should be using a test pattern. Have a look at this web site:
